Update on rock blasting at Kilnagurteen, Macroom on Tuesday 21st July 2020
The first rock blast of the project was successfully undertaken at Kilnagurteen on Tuesday 21st July 2020. The location of the blast was approximately 300m east of the Kilnagurteen road. The blast took place at 2.00pm following the usual number of audible warning signals. Noise and vibration monitors were in place at the nearest properties to record the impact at these locations. Residents in the area had been informed in advance of the blast and were aware of the time and location of the blast itself.
The contractor at all times endeavours to keep the disturbance from the works to a minimum. The contractor would like to take this opportunity to thank the residents of Kilnagurteen and Ballyveerane for their patience and understanding with the carrying out of these works close to where they live, and also to acknowledge the assistance of An Garda Siochana, without whose input these works could not be carried out.
The next blast planned for Kilnagurteen is scheduled for Tuesday 28th July 2020, which of course is subject to change. Local residents will be informed about this blast, closer to the scheduled date.
