Achomire den Tionscadal
Fáilte go dtí an chéad nuachtlitir de chuid Forbairt Bóthair N22 Baile Bhuirne – Maigh Chromtha. Síníodh an conradh idir Comhairle Contae Chorcaí agus Jons Civil Engineering – John Cradock Joint Venture Limited ar an 29ú Samhain 2019.
San áireamh sa tionscadal tá tógáil 22km de dhébhealach a thógfar, don gcuid is mó, gan cur isteach ar an N22 atá ann cheana. Beidh idirbhealach idir an fhorbairt bóthair nua agus an N22 atá ann cheana ag an terminus thoir agus an terminus thiar chomh maith le dhá trasrian den mbóthar atá ann cheana. Tógfar an bóthar trí thír-raon dúshlánach a ghabhann trí chnoic agus trí thalamh iargúlta carraigeach ar an dtaobh thiar soir go dtí an talamh íseal féarach ar an dtaobh thoir de Mhaigh Chromtha a thrasnóidh stráice talamhiata de thaiscumar Inis Cara atá soir ó dheas ó Mhaigh Chromtha. Mar chuid den dtionscadal tógfar 130 struchtúr, lena n-áirítear áiteanna trasnaithe Abha an tSuláin, Abha na Láine, Abha na Fothraise agus Abha na Biochaille. Beidh acomhail an tionscadail ar an Sliabh Riabhach ag an ndeireadh thiar, ar an dTúnlán atá lastoir de Bhaile Mhic Íre, sa Ghoirtín Rua, Bóthar Shráid an Mhuilinn agus i gCúil Chomhair taobh thoir de Mhaigh Chromtha.
Conradh den gcineál ‘dearadh agus tógáil’ is ea an conradh seo agus is iad JB Barry and Partners Ltd. Innealtóirí Comhairliúchán atá i mbun forbartha ar an ndearadh faoi láthair thar ceann an Chonraitheora Comhfhiontair. Tá sé i gceist ag an gclár reatha go mbeidh an tionscadal curtha i gcrích faoi lár na bliana 2023. Ar chúiseanna tógála tá an tionscadal roinnte i 3 chuid:

Project Summary
The contract for this project was signed between Cork County Council and Jons Civil Engineering – John Cradock Joint Venture Limited on the 29th November 2019.
The project includes for the construction of 22km of dual carriageway which will be primarily constructed offline of the existing N22. There will be interfaces between the new road development and the existing N22 at the eastern and western termini as well as two crossings of the existing road. The road will be constructed through challenging terrain which varies through the development from hilly remote land with rock outcrops at the western end, to low lying pasture lands to the east of Macroom and will cross a land-locked section of the Inniscarra Reservoir to the south east of Macroom. The project includes the construction of 130 structures, including crossings of the Sullane, Laney, Foherish and Bohill rivers. The junctions on the project will be at Slievereagh at the western end, at Toonlane east of Baile Mhic Íre, at Gurteenroe, Millstreet Road and at Coolcour at the eastern side of Macroom.
This contract is a design and build contract with the design currently being developed by Barry Transportation and Partners, Consulting Engineers on behalf of the Joint Venture Contractor. The current programme envisages that the project will be completed by mid-2023. The project is divided into 3 sections for construction purposes:
Section 1
Bypass of Baile Bhuirne and Baile Mhic Íre; Slievereagh to Coolnacaheragh
Section 2
Middle section from Coolnacaheragh to Carrigaphooca
Section 3
Bypass of Macroom; Carrigaphooca to Coolcour
